18 i 19 czerwca 2024 roku w Bibliotece Międzywydziałowej odbędzie się międzynarodowe seminarium „Law and Emotions in William Shakespeare’s Plays”. Organizatorami wydarzenia są profesor Maciej Jońca (Wydział Prawa i Administracji US), dr hab. Katarzyna Jaworska-Biskup (Instytut Literatury i Nowych Mediów US) oraz Zespół do badań komparatystycznych i translatologicznych, działający w Instytucie Literatury i Nowych Mediów. One of the greatest poets, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, wrote: “Shakespeare is a great psychologist, and whatever can be known of the heart of man may be found in his plays”. Shakespeare’s works abound in various emotional states, such as fear, vengeance, hatred, jealousy, and love, to name a few. The main dramatis personae of his literature grapple with a great variety of disorders and experience the seizures and downfalls that propel action and create cliffhangers. It is no wonder that Shakespeare studies and psychology are intertwined. Shakespeare was not only interested in human affect but also the law. During the first International Seminar “Law and Emotions in William Shakespeare’s Plays”, we are going to discuss various manifestations of law, emotions and literature in the Bard’s works. The seminar will be held on 18-19 June 2024 in Szczecin, Poland. It is organised by Prof. Maciej Jońca (Wydział Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego), dr hab. Katarzyna Jaworska-Biskup (Instytut Literatury i Nowych Mediów US) and Zakład Komparatystyki and Translatoryki US. Details can be found in the attachments.
